For Activity 5.1, could you clarify how to map out the continents onto the globe?

In Activities 4.5, 4.6, and 4.7, you already added latitude and longitude lines to your globe, which is now in 15° increments. For Activity 5.1, you will need the map on page 70 of the textbook. You will basically be transferring the lines of the map, which are also in 15° increments, onto the globe using a grid method, not copying and pasting the map to the globe.

On page 70, using a pencil, lightly extend the longitude and latitude lines through the continents which are on top of the lines. You can either write in the book or photocopy this page. By extending the lines, you are able to see each individual square which you will use to copy the map onto the globe. Using the grid method, copy what is in each square onto the corresponding square on the globe. The picture with the red arrow on page 71 shows you how to do this.

Artists often use the grid method to copy a picture to another medium. It's a great way to increase or decrease the size of something in a methodical way.
